Phoebe has been personal training with us for 8 weeks now. In that time she’s lost 2st and changed much more than just her shape!
We’ve picked Phoebe for client of the month because from the word go she’s fully committed herself to changing. She’s got a great attitude and it’s great to see her out of her shell and one of the best personalities in the gym.
Here’s what Phoebe had to say about her story:
‘This is a bit of a long one, I promise to keep it as short as possible.
Throughout the majority of my life I have always struggled with my weight, I was the chubby kid in primary school and was severely bullied through most of my school life.
I carried that with me through my teenage years, and even though I slowly lost the “puppy fat” as I started my teens I began to fear ever becoming the “fat one” again. I picked up some bad habits along the way, I began yo-yo dieting (believe me there isn’t one I haven’t tried) and of course they worked for a while, but it wasn’t good enough. I started eating less, some days nothing at all, and when I did eat I would exercise while the timer was on the microwave/oven, I also picked up smoking to try and kill down the hunger, and this slowly developed into bulimia and kick started my addiction to laxatives.
Eventually I got the help I needed, but I slowly became the fat one again, I went back and forth like this for years, and early this year I was at my heaviest 15st 5lb!!!
My sisters wedding was quickly approaching and I was suggested to attend next level fitness by a family friend as I had lost all of my confidence, I didn’t go out much, I was constantly fighting with family and friends, it was my last resort.
I’m now at 13st 4lb! I’m not where I want to be just yet, but the motivation, support and encouragement I receive from each of the PT’s allows me to attend the gym at least 3 times a week, and not to mention they provide you with a cook book filled with easy tasty recipes that for someone like me who constantly thinks about what I shouldn’t eat; wish I hadn’t have eaten or what I am allowed to eat, made changing to a healthier lifestyle a thousand times easier.
I’ve learnt so much from my experience so far, I’ve learnt to believe in myself (I can lift weights now that I could never have imagined lifting), to trust in people more and that with dedication comes great results. I’ve still got a long way to go, but Ive never been more secure with my weight, I can go on holidays and do things out of my routine without it affecting it and it’s an absolute pleasure to spend that “long way to go” with the NLF crew. Work hard, train hard, you’re going to see results. I honestly couldn’t thank them enough for essentially the new life they’ve provided me with.
If you’ve struggled, are currently struggling or know someone who is with your weight and confidence, don’t just sit there and deal with it internally, find a fraction of motivation, get to NLF and build your confidence back up and meet some amazing people 🙂
