Client of the Month: Rich Mills

Client of month – Rich Mills!

Rich has lost 5kg this month and a whopping 15kg in the 2month since starting.

He started Personal Training giving 100% in to both his training and his diet.

Rich works a 4 on 4 off pattern shifts with both day and night shifts so it’s hard for him to set a regular routine. He hasn’t let that stop him, he fit’s training around work and manages to fit two PT sessions in a week and yoga sessions at home.

Regarding his food, he’s been tracking his calories using My Fitness Pal, prepping meals when he gets chance and generally making better choices otherwise.

During the time we’ve been training Rich managed to dislocate his knee playing football . Again it hasn’t stopped him.

Rich’s determination is something I admire about him; no matter what stands in his way he still makes it in to every session and we work around the barriers in order to reach his goals.

In the next coming months Rich is looking at adding on group sessions to his routine to add on to the 39cm he’s already lost and I personally am excited to see the results.

Well done Rich!

– Abbie

Client of the Month: Lauren Kirkham

client of the month september 2018

#wcw – Client of month – Lauren Kirkham!

Lauren’s lost 18lb this month and 4st since starting!

A little bit about her..

When I see Lauren it’s hard to picture her before picture. Even when someones changed loads, it’s easy to lose sight of how much when you see them everyday, and she has! Lauren’s lost 4 st since she started last year.

The thing is that before pictures not her. It’s not the bubbly person we see in the gym.

Everyone loses weight for different reasons, I grew up with weight on but Lauren didn’t. She went through a bad time and that pic represents just one year, something she’d probably rather not remember. In some sense she see’s it as it shouldn’t have happened, but it does, it happens to a lot of people and she’s worked so hard to change. I think she’s an inspiration!

The last few months we’ve maintained. For Lauren that’s been fine because she enjoys training and getting fitter and maintaining is good too. However she’s got an holiday coming u,p so going into August check-in Lauren wanted to be a bit more focused.

This month she’s lost 18lb’s!

Client of the month isn’t just about most weight lost. It’s about doing something that inspire’s others.

We haven’t done anything too strict, the change this month was mindset. Tightening up on food, a few less meals out and it’s amazing how much difference we’ve seen even when Lauren well into her journey and not just a new starter.

I can’t say Lauren care’s for deadlifts or any of my squat ‘coaching points’ but she does come in every week and give 110%.

Most importantly, she brings me Costa! Americano, skimmed milk and sugar-free caramel syrup if anyone wants to brings one

Well done Loz!

Client of the Month: Phoebe Thomas

phoebe 2

Phoebe has been personal training with us for 8 weeks now. In that time she’s lost 2st and changed much more than just her shape!

We’ve picked Phoebe for client of the month because from the word go she’s fully committed herself to changing. She’s got a great attitude and it’s great to see her out of her shell and one of the best personalities in the gym.

Here’s what Phoebe had to say about her story:

phoebe‘This is a bit of a long one, I promise to keep it as short as possible.

Throughout the majority of my life I have always struggled with my weight, I was the chubby kid in primary school and was severely bullied through most of my school life.

I carried that with me through my teenage years, and even though I slowly lost the “puppy fat” as I started my teens I began to fear ever becoming the “fat one” again. I picked up some bad habits along the way, I began yo-yo dieting (believe me there isn’t one I haven’t tried) and of course they worked for a while, but it wasn’t good enough. I started eating less, some days nothing at all, and when I did eat I would exercise while the timer was on the microwave/oven, I also picked up smoking to try and kill down the hunger, and this slowly developed into bulimia and kick started my addiction to laxatives.

Eventually I got the help I needed, but I slowly became the fat one again, I went back and forth like this for years, and early this year I was at my heaviest 15st 5lb!!!

My sisters wedding was quickly approaching and I was suggested to attend next level fitness by a family friend as I had lost all of my confidence, I didn’t go out much, I was constantly fighting with family and friends, it was my last resort.

I’m now at 13st 4lb! I’m not where I want to be just yet, but the motivation, support and encouragement I receive from each of the PT’s allows me to attend the gym at least 3 times a week, and not to mention they provide you with a cook book filled with easy tasty recipes that for someone like me who constantly thinks about what I shouldn’t eat; wish I hadn’t have eaten or what I am allowed to eat, made changing to a healthier lifestyle a thousand times easier.

I’ve learnt so much from my experience so far, I’ve learnt to believe in myself (I can lift weights now that I could never have imagined lifting), to trust in people more and that with dedication comes great results. I’ve still got a long way to go, but Ive never been more secure with my weight, I can go on holidays and do things out of my routine without it affecting it and it’s an absolute pleasure to spend that “long way to go” with the NLF crew. Work hard, train hard, you’re going to see results. I honestly couldn’t thank them enough for essentially the new life they’ve provided me with.

If you’ve struggled, are currently struggling or know someone who is with your weight and confidence, don’t just sit there and deal with it internally, find a fraction of motivation, get to NLF and build your confidence back up and meet some amazing people 🙂

Phoebe has so much potential. We can’t wait to see where she will be in another 8 weeks.

Client Shout Out – Rachel

Rachel started her journey 6 weeks ago and since then she has lost 1st 4lbs!

Rachel started out really nervous and lacking confidence. She was scared to fail and worried about embarrassing herself and getting things wrong. Working with a Personal Trainer was a big first step.

We believe in building people up. We started with body weight exercises and within 3 weeks she was lifting more than we thought was possible! Barbell squats, DB Chest Presses and really beginning to feel part of the gym. She stopped saying ‘I’m doing it wrong’ and started pushing herself more and more.

In the last 2 weeks we have moved onto circuit training. One thing she’s really proud of is shaving 5 minutes off her chipper circuit time. The first time she tried it took 30 minutes 5 seconds, the second 25 minutes 40 seconds which is a huge improvement along with exercising for without rest for the full time!

Rachel has also been working on her food. For her looking at the calories in her meals has worked really well. It’s helped her understand food from a different perspective and meant she’s not had to lose out on some of things she enjoys. Weight loss is a gradual process.

In Rachel’s head she’s still a long way from where she wants to be. What she has taken out of these first 6 weeks is that she can do it and we want to commend her. Walking through the door is scary and while we offer as much support as we can it’s her whose put in the work and we’re really proud.

Well done Rachel, we look forward to where you’ll be.

Progress update: Carol Day

carol_origWe want to say a big well done to Carol after completing her first 8 weeks of personal training with us.

After getting married Carol gradually put on weight until the doctors highlighted it was seriously affecting her health. Carol didn’t feel confident in a gym and came to us.

8 weeks since starting Carol’s weight loss is 8lb’s! and her cholesterol is now in the healthy range. We think she’s done even better in her pictures too!

Carol has followed a weight training program 3 days a week so she could build strength and work at her own pace in the gym while we’ve helped her make changes to her diet at home. Seeing the difference Carol is really eager to do more. We’re going to work on her fitness in her next stage and burn even more stomach fat.
